Kate Current
MSc Student
Kate Current is an undergraduate civil engineering student at Western University and is simultaneously pursuing her MESc in Wind Engineering. Kate was a recipient of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Undergraduate Student Research Award where she began studying downbursts and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). She subsequently completed her undergraduate thesis under the supervision of Dr. Bitsuamlak where she evaluated the aerodynamic effects of downburst on low-rise buildings using CFD software. Kate’s MESc research will be a continuation of her downburst studies where she aims to incorporate experimental simulations in the WindEEE Dome in conjunction with CFD simulations to better understand the effect of downbursts on the built environment.
